I understand that the admin cybereality was mad about all the funding situation, but why they close the forum ? What is the relation with this problem ?
Are anyone planning to make this the official forum ? Maybe sending it to a more appropriated domain ?
What happed with the old godot forum ?

Did you read the long thread there at the top? That's as much explanation as is available.why they close the forum ?
I read... But still dont got what it has to do with the forum itself, was cybereality the private owner of the forum or something ???
Still, I wander if its possible to migrate the content to a new forum where we can take care of it as a community not as an private owner.

Effectively de facto, yes.
Even the last one wasn't really 'official'. Well, long long ago it was, but hadn't been for probably close to a decade. If the foundation board wants they can create an official forum. But the last one became community managed precisely because not only didn't they have a good performant server for it at the time but also because developers wanted to develop godot and not moderate a forum.

I set this forum up because I felt it was unfair for the community to lose that resource, even temporarily.
I do want to move this off a subdomain to a permanent domain. (open to ideas for name/domain)
As far as ownership, community control...I agree a more fail-safe option should exist than having one person hold all the keys. Definitely open to ideas on how to achieve that.
Generally with site/server upkeep, that ends up being handled by an individual just due to the transactions required.

ok bad attempt at humour, I plead insanity due to lack of sleep.
The first thing that came to mind was open sourcing the data itself so anyone could load up phpbb and insert it in where the old one left off.stayathomedev wrote: ↑Wed Jul 19, 2023 5:46 pmI set this forum up because I felt it was unfair for the community to lose that resource, even temporarily.

Previous to godotforums.org it was godotdevelopers.org. We lost it because nobody had properly taken charge of it IIRC and forgot to effectively renew it. So it got docked. I haven't checked but maybe its since freed. Might still be docked with namecheap tho.stayathomedev wrote: ↑Wed Jul 19, 2023 5:46 pmI do want to move this off a subdomain to a permanent domain. Another good one might be godotcommunity.org - bonus - makes it more obvious that it's a community run effort perhaps.
I have some ideas that are available, want them posted somewhere so people can vote or?stayathomedev wrote: ↑Wed Jul 19, 2023 5:46 pmI do want to move this off a subdomain to a permanent domain. (open to ideas for name/domain)

So both a hosting and domain lapse? Rough
