Might seem weird me posting someone else's tutorial but it was honestly that useful I thought I'd dump it here as I've dumped it elsewhere. I've been heavily researching general 3D modelling topology and trying to get a proper grounding in the techniques so that I don't massively bork my models down the line beyond repair. Even though this video is only 6 minutes long, he gets straight to the point and does a very good job going through the problems you'll run into with even an example being shown about how to deal with fingers which is fantastic.

Yes, not perfect for absolutely everything, but this knowledge will probably get a lot of you started on looking at other stuff and I was really impressed by it. For those of you who have ever wanted to start 3D modelling your own characters, this is for you.

Does Blender only work with quads, not triangles? Because if triangle faces are allowed, you could reduce much quicker. (Caveat: I know Blender exists, but I've never used it)

Thanks Lethn. Appreciate the link.

Hi Haystack. Blender can handle tris/quads/ngons along with a bunch of other stuff. (The interface is less, um, unique these days so it may be worth paying it a visit).

Blender can certainly handle all of that and perhaps more, like Godot people really underestimate the power of this open source software. However I thought I'd post this up for people like me who were initially struggling to find good resources on how to do consistent topology without completely breaking their meshes which is easily done.

Not all of Blender's capabilities can be transferred to Godot. I encountered this when I was trying to implement smooth character growth.

Oh yes, with regards to Blender modifiers and such don't do it, I also don't know if there are problems with inverse kinematic animations from Blender to Godot, I'll have to experiment with that. I'm entering more into the design phase of all my work so I've got more excuses now to mess around with that stuff. The video is mostly about topology workflow and I found this so helpful I had to post it up.

I am also interested in this issue and plan to deal with IK in the near future.
